DMXcat\u00ae gives professional lighting designers the ability to turn on, test, and troubleshoot any DMX device-from the simplest PAR LED spotlights to high-tech movable head lights. The DMXcat \u00ae tester allows you to work on a daily basis when creating lighting projects around the world.<\/p>\n


\nOur goal is to make it easier for professionals like you to use the DMXcat tool. Based on user questions that our technical team has received over the past three months, we have developed five tips that will make using the tester even easier.<\/p>\n

  1. How do I connect to a device without internet access?<\/strong>
    \nIf the user adds a device to Favorites in the DMXcat app, the app saves the individual settings of this device directly on the smartphone. When you add your preferred devices to your favorites list, these devices not only provide easy access, but also don't cause problems even when you don't have an internet connection.<\/li>\n
  2. How do I remove a preset from the DMX Controller app?<\/strong>
    \nSwipe the preset to the left and select \"Delete\" \u2013 & Remove.<\/li>\n
  3. How can I diagnose problems with devices in the DMX line?
    \n<\/strong>The DMX Parameter Analysis (Analyze DMX) function, available in the DMX tester app, provides valuable information about the data received from the controller, which can further help in diagnosing the problem. Three sections that provide the most direct help: \"Number of Slots\" (number of slots), & #8222; Update Rate\u201d (refresh rate) and \u201e Received Start Codes\u201d.<\/li>\n
  4. How do I set the lighting device to its original position?
    \n<\/strong>Using the 3-dot menu of the Fixture Controller app, the user can reset all the DMX values of stored moving lighting devices to their default output values.<\/li>\n
  5. How can I test an individual device?<\/strong>
    \nOn the screen of the DMX Transmit Tester application, you must set the Transmit Speed Preset to \"Max\". This will transmit DMX data at the fastest speed that the DMX512 specification allows. If the device does not behave properly, the transmission speed must be reduced until a consistent control is obtained. Most of the available lighting consoles and DMX gateways give you the ability to adjust the DMX speed without affecting the output values seen on stage.
